Cement flooring is regaining its popularity in interior design recently. Many high-end designers are preferring cement tiles for their projects. Cement tiles are made by hand, one at a time, using mineral pigments, cement, a mold, and a hydraulic press. Since these are hand made it is expected to have slight imperfections which not only add character but also add depth to the overall design when used in a project.

Pros of cement tiles

  1. These are long-lasting, hence you can still find them in heritage buildings. They have low wear and tear because they are hydraulically pressed.

  2. Can be used in high traffic areas.

  3. They can also be repolished time and again.

  4. Low chances of chipping.

  5. Can be customized and experimented with different colors as per design.

Cons of cement tiles

  1. The cost of material and installation is comparatively high.

  2. These are porous hence multiple layers of sealant are required.

So where can we use them?

We can use them in living rooms, bedrooms, entrance foyer, kitchen backsplash, and kitchen flooring. It is not advisable to use them in bathrooms because they are highly porous.

They can also be used in office spaces, restaurants, pubs, and any other high-traffic area.
